A1 certificate for workers posted to Belgium and Luxembourg

The A1 certificate proves that a posted worker remains covered by the social security of their home country. It is requested during site inspections in both Belgium and Luxembourg.

Who issues the A1 certificate?

The social security institution of the home country; for a Polish company this is ZUS. The employer (or self-employed person) applies, with details of the site and the length of the posting.

Why prepare it early?

Without an A1, the host country's authorities may question the worker's social security cover. It is best to apply before departure and keep a copy on site.

How we help

A checklist of the information needed, consistency between the A1, the Limosa or e-Détachement declaration and the contracts, and tracking of validity dates.

Our support is administrative; it is not legal or tax advice and does not guarantee any outcome with the authorities.
